AKT Enterprises Targets Music IndustryJuly 1, 2009
To date, AKT has amassed about 5,000 clients, including recording labels Metal Blade Records and Sumerian Records, along with recording artists Dispatch and Kid Rock. AKT recently expanded to its current 13,000-square-foot facility, with 40 employees who are on track to generate $5 million in 2009. Merchspin is AKT’s apparel decorating company, while Threadspin provides embroidery, tagging and finishing services. “We specialize in unique design techniques that make our company stand out from what our competitors are offering,” Tchekmeian says. AKT’s companies serve both retail and wholesale channels, Tchekmeian says, but the focus has recently been on increasing retail outlets. The company also has almost 1,000 online vendors who sell its products through AKT’s network. The company also has formed a nonprofit, Give Them Wings To Fly, to give underprivileged children assistance and knowledge about the music industry.
