Graphtec Distributes Desktop Cutting Tool

November 28, 2011

Graphtec America Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Graphtec Corp., Yokohama, Japan, now distributes the Silhouette CAMEO desktop cutting tool with optical registration mark sensor manufactured by Silhouette America Inc.

The CAMEO is an electronic cutting tool for smaller sized applications that features an optical sensor, SD card, graphical liquid display and an intuitive blade assembly. It cuts a wide variety materials, including cardstock, fabric, paper, vellum, transparencies, as well as Silhouette-tested materials, such as printable magnet paper, adhesive vinyl for signs and wall decoration, apparel rhinestone stencil, and apparel heat transfer material.

This desktop cutting tool can handle media up to 12 inches wide by more than 10 feet long, and it can cut the full 12 inch width when using the supplied cutting mat. It also has a removable SD card slot so users can cut saved files without a computer connection.

The Silhouette Studio design software is included with every Silhouette CAMEO desktop cutting tool.  Silhouette Studio is Mac and PC compatible, and contains design tools so users can create their own shapes and designs, which can be organized and stored in the Silhouette Studio library. The optical sensor reads registration marks printed from the user’s desktop printer and cuts precisely around the image for sticker applications and heat applied decorated apparel, according to the company.
