April 22, 2010
"Picture Your World" contestants can receive a free, limited-edition reusable tote and be eligible to win an eco vacation to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Women's digital brand iVillage, New York, and online custom apparel and gift designer CafePress, San Mateo, Calif., recently launched the "Picture Your World" online photo contest to celebrate Earth Day.
Contest participants can submit the photo that best answers for them, "Why on earth are you saving the planet?" Upon doing so, they will receive a free, limited-edition reusable tote and be eligible to win an eco vacation to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
"Both CafePress users and the iVillage community are active and cause-minded," says Amy Maniatis, vice president of marketing, CafePress. "We wanted to tap this group of engaged and environmentally responsible folks and reward them for their efforts and encourage them to keep up their commitment to the environment."
Users can visit the iVillage and CafePress Earth Day Web site until April 30 to enter the contest. To participate, they can simply upload a photo and write a caption that illustrates their inspiration and passion for the planet. The prize pack for the trip to St. Thomas includes air travel and complimentary accommodations in one of the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort and Spa's CleanAirSM guest rooms, which uses Wyndham's PURE system to eliminate dust and other allergens.
Also in honor of EarthDay, CafePress is making contributions to CarbonFund.org, a nonprofit carbon offset and climate-solutions organization. For a limited time, "Picture Your World" contest participants can purchase a selection of eco-friendly products on CafePress that feature their photo submissions. Products include reusable water bottles, and organic T-shirts and aprons. A portion of proceeds from these items will be donated to CarbonFund.org. — J.L.
